Pussyhat Project - Cincinnati Edition

The Bombshells of Cincinnati Support Nationwide Pussyhat Project!

Bombshells of Cincinnati, a largely anonymous group of local lady crafters who juxtapose vandalism with the non-threatening nature of fiber art, are teaming up again to join forces with the more than a hundred thousand women planning to participate in the upcoming Million Women’s March on Washington.

The group of local, revolutionary craftswomen are heeding the call to participate in the nation-wide “Pussyhat Project”: to visually unite women and ally marchers with pink, cat-eared hats, to protest for women’s rights on the day after the upcoming presidential inauguration, this coming January 21st, 2017.The nationwide movement strives to make 1.17 million pink hats, and the Bombshells of Cincinnatithemselves hope to make over 250.

The hat will help to demonstrate not only the solidarity of the marchers andthe power of women’s labor; but also seeks to reclaim the tools (words, colors, andtraditional gender roles) often used to withhold equality from women—whether transgender or cisgender.

To that aim, the Bombshells will hold two events in town for local knitters and crochet fanatics, in order to share patterns, raise awareness about the march, share resources, teach others, and otherwise make hats, on December 17th, at The Lodge in Dayton, KY and January 8th at Wave Pool Gallery in Camp Washington, OH.

The Bombshells encourage participants to bring their own supplies, and they will also accept donations of yarn and money for additional supplies:
