SCAVENGED AND IMPROVISED: NATUSHA CROES IN CAMP WASHINGTON

For Artist in Residence Natusha Croes, the act of performing together is just as much about developing a conversation and an understanding between the traditional and untraditional, rhythmic and experimental, as it is about performing for an audience.

Croes hopes to continue this exploration with more local experimenters. On June 11th from 11 AM until 3 PM, she will conduct a workshop/exchange session that unfolds the possibility of transforming objects into instruments. Participants will engage in the creation of sound objects out of found materials through the guidance of Croes. After creating the pieces, participants will go on a “walking jam session”, exploring a variety of industrial and unsuspecting spaces both indoors and outdoors through Camp Washington in which to play together improvisationally. Attendees must register in advance. The meeting location and itinerary will be sent in the days before the happening. Lunch will be provided.
