9x18: The Parking Lot Art Experiment is an alternative/performative/experimental/live art fair taking over the parking lot of 2927 Colerain Avenue on April 30th, 2017 from 1-5pm. “9x18” describes the dimensions of a standard parking space, and that space constraint is the only rule to abide by for this fair. The typical tents, wire hangers, and plastic sleeves for goods sold will be absent from this fair. Instead, viewers will be inundated with performance, art actions, experimental engagements, and ephemeral works.

Includes artists Ingred Alexandra, Marc Governanti, Mary Clare Rietz, Nina Caporale, Caravan, POPP=D Art, Stacey Vest, Pam Kravetz, and many others.

9x18 came about when a group of local creatives asked a simple question, “Where can artists who don’t create and sell easily commodified objects showcase their work to a large and accessible public?” 9x18 aims to answer this question and change the way we look at art fairs. Less about purchasing work (though there will be some opportunity for that), and more about creating an immersive experience.

This project was curated by Andy Marko, Karay Martin, and Cal Cullen. 9x18 is a Wave Pool project and has been approved by Semantics. This project was funded by a grant from The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation.

In addition to The Parking Lot Art Experiment, visitors to the corner of Colerain and Rachel on April 30th can visit the Studio Sale in Wave Pool’s upstairs space, where local artists will be selling gently used art supplies, as well as the grand opening of the “Welcome Shop”, a storefront at 2936 Colerain for refugees and immigrants to sell their crafts and handmade goods, and the debut of a new temporary mural by Wave Pool artist in residence Lori Practico, part of the Girl Noticed Project.
