A safer space is defined as a supportive, non-threatening environment that encourages open-mindedness, respect, and a willingness to learn from others as well as physical and mental safety. A concept that seems simple when put in words can be difficult to uphold in daily life.
In this egalitarian dialogue, we will explore the role of safer spaces - how to create and maintain them, with special focus on language surrounding gender identity, addressing microaggressions, and what a safer/braver space can look like.
Discussion facilitated by Rachelle Caplan, director of Ladyfest Cincinnati. The experts invited to participate will remain anonymous until the event's end to aid in the non-hierarchical structure of this discourse.
