Instructor, Krishna, was born in Bhutan in Sarbang State. In 1992 she had to leave with her husband and two sons so they could be safe. She was very sad but happy to be with her family. Once she reached the refugee camp her husband left and she never saw him again. In the camps she used to weave and she still loves weaving, knitting, sewing and working with beads. A year ago she was proud to become a US Citizen. She likes her life in the USA and making her life and history here.

The Welcome Project is a social enterprise that trains our newest neighbors in fabrication and art skills as well as store management while bringing new life to the business district of Camp Washington, Cincinnati. The Welcome Project works out of two storefronts next door to Wave Pool and is a collaboration between Wave Pool and Heartfelt Tidbits. Workshops, support sessions, and artistic outreach for immigrants, refugees, and the Camp Washington community are currently offered by this budding enterprise.
