Artist Talk, 7-8pm Wave Pool

Lena Chen will present an artist talk about We Lived In The Gaps Between The Stories, a participatory art project that pays homage to abortion providers, midwives, healers, herbalists, doulas, clinic escorts, and all who care for abortion seekers. In a reciprocal act of labor, the artist works with local growers, herbalists (Ellie Mae Mitchell), florist (Patricia Campos), and Cincinnati residents to create a series of wreaths made from abortifacients and emmenagogues (plants with contraceptive properties). The wreaths are then gifted to abortion care workers in a ritual of gratitude. The talk will examine the collaborative process of making socially engaged feminist art and the intersections with care work.
