Wave Pool Pool Party and 9x18 Parking Lot Art Fair

  • Wave Pool 2940 Colerain Avenue Cincinnati, OH, 45225 United States (map)

Bigger and better than ever, our Pool Party this year combines block party, art book fair, and experimental performance art fair

Come in your swim trunks and be ready for an art-filled summer swim party! Enjoy food and drinks, live music, carnival games, a silent auction of local goodies, and support the place that pairs communities’ needs with artists’ sense of possibility!

Wave Pool announces the annual Pool Party, to be held in the streets, parking lots, and vacant grassy lots around Camp Washington, in an all day artist-driven block party on August 21st, 2021, from 12 – 5 PM. The event will feature music by Brooks Taylor, Jennifer Grantham and Brad Myers, Freedom Nicole Moore, BB Hutch, and intermediate parades by the Camp Washington Heavy Metals Marching Band. An artist-made carnival will take place on Rachel St., including artful versions of PLINKO, bean toss, duck pond, put-put and more. Live community sign-making will be happening with artist Paul Shortt, special “pool-side” drinks and handcrafted tamales will be served to keep us full and libated, and an inflatable waterslide outdoors will keep us all cool and entertained.

As part of this year's Pool Party, the 9x18 Parking Lot Art Experiment (an alternative / performative / experimental / live art fair) takes over the parking lot next to Wave Pool’s firehouse. Viewers will be inundated with performance, art actions, experimental engagements, and ephemeral works.

This event also happens in conjunction with the Cincinnati Art Book Fair, happening just one block down at CampSITE Sculpture Park at the same time.

Over the course of 2020 Wave Pool paid 207 artists for their time and talent, including 87 Artist Relief Fund Grants. We expanded Driving Lessons, our Artist Professional Development program, and provided our city with cutting-edge and socially engaged Artist and Curatorial Residency programs. Help us continue to serve artists and creatives by joining us in a day of celebration and community!

This event is the primary source for our yearly exhibitions and programming budgets.
