The Means of Production
The Means of Production is a book artists and writers collaborative that connects artists and writers to produce works that reflect the values, challenges, and aspirations of the local community and adds to its material culture.
They will engage bookbinders, visual artists, printers, poets, and writers to work together to produce physical manifestations of their stories, poems, and musing. The process will focus on mentorship in writing and book arts, collaboration in design and production, and local distribution of created works. By providing community members with a space, equipment (printing and hand-binding) and expertise, writers and artists outside academia or the formal channels of publishing, can express themselves through zines, pamphlets, broadside, manuscripts, chapbooks, etc. in a supportive environment. The goal is to carry forward the tradition of self-publishing and add to the material culture of our community.
