Matt Whitby
Matt is establishing an artist-maker studio cooperative. Operating in a 3,000+ square-foot warehouse in Lower Price Hill, the space houses nine rent-subsidized studios for eleven artists, a shared woodshop, spray booth, and lounge. Members share space, tools, resources, and skills, and facilitate workshops and art markets. The fellowship supports professional development, establishing organizational infrastructure, and connecting with a broader network of artists and makers across and beyond Cincinnati.
Matt Whitby is a Texas-born, Cincinnati-based designer, maker, and educator whose practice bridges traditional craft and emerging technology. He earned a B.S. in Industrial Design from the University of Cincinnati (DAAP) and currently works as a Product Designer at Microsoft. Teaching and skill-sharing have been a through-line in his practice: as an adjunct instructor at UC, through community workshops and arts classes, he approaches education as a way to build confidence, share tools, and expand what people feel capable of making.
